NSBA is leading the fight against unfair and manipulative practices at the root of IRS’s strategy to close the tax gap. We support enhanced taxpayer services to inform taxpayers of their correct tax obligations, however better research is needed to accurately identify noncompliant tax payers.

NSBA has been an advocate for the interests of small-business owners throughout the country since its inception in 1937. The organization, which reaches more than 150,000 small-business owners, is the oldest small-business advocacy organization in the United States.

NSBA members testify before Congress and meet with White House and congressional officials as well as federal regulators to ensure that federal policy protects and enhances the rights and freedoms of small business.NSBA will be working diligently to protect small-business owners against unfair or aggressive IRS tactics designed to increase tax revenue.

The IRS must adjust its enforcement tools to target those who intentionally evade paying taxes, not simply those who have made the mistake of not understanding the 16,845 pages of IRS tax code. The time and financial burden of complying with the tax code is already too great, and we encourage you to join us in telling everyone in Congress what additional burdens could mean to the U.S. economy.
